The same supported controller board can run any of three firmware builds. Start with the smart-home app you use. Firmware is free to install; your controller does not need a Serin Labs account or subscription.

Home Assistant → ESPHomeClimate, vane and sensor entities with optional YAML customization. Apple Home → HomeKit-compatibleDirect pairing with Apple Home and Siri, plus a built-in web interface. The builds run on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. App controls differ: fan speed, vane direction, diagnostics, and some modes are not available in every app. See controls and diagnostics for what is exposed where, and licenses and compliance for firmware details.

Matter-compatible firmware can also be added to Apple Home or Home Assistant. For a new installation centered on those apps, the direct HomeKit and ESPHome guides above are the established routes; the Matter-compatible build is newer and less tested. If you already use Home Assistant, you can also expose its thermostat to another ecosystem through Home Assistant.

Install or switch firmware

Use the browser flash tool on a computer with Chrome, Edge or Brave and a USB-C data cable. Select the same firmware named by your guide. The tool shows compatible released builds for the connected board.

Switching firmware requires another USB installation and setup in the new platform. Follow maintenance and reset instructions before removing an installed board. For routine updates, use the existing firmware's wireless update path.
