This page collects the safety and installation information for the products Serin Labs makes, in plain language. Read the section for your product before you install it or plug it in. Regulatory, FCC, and trademark information is on the licenses and compliance page. Last updated September 4, 2026.
Before you start
- Disconnect power first. Switch the system off at the breaker or disconnect before opening any equipment, and leave it off until every cover is back on.
- Not a safety device. Our products are convenience accessories. They must not be relied on as safety, protection, or life-support devices.
- Hire a technician if you are not comfortable. Installation means opening equipment and working next to line-voltage wiring. If you are not comfortable doing that, have a qualified HVAC technician make the connection.
- Warranty. Connecting third-party accessories may affect the equipment manufacturer's warranty terms; check with your installer or Mitsubishi Electric if you are unsure.
Serin Controller and CN105 cable
- Low voltage by design. The controller is powered by the CN105 port's 5 V supply and never connects to mains wiring.
- Disconnect power first. Always switch the mini-split off at the breaker or disconnect before opening the indoor unit or connecting the controller. CN105 is the only connector that needs to be handled, and the rest of the control board carries line voltage.
- Mind the placement. The controller installs inside the indoor unit. Keep it and its cable clear of fan blades, heat exchanger fins, and the condensate tray, as shown in the installation guide.
- Follow the manual. The installation chapter covers the connection and the cable routing, and the quick start takes it from there.
Wireless room sensor
The sensor in the room-sensor bundle is a small battery-powered Bluetooth tag. It sits on a shelf or a table in the room and reports temperature to the controller over Bluetooth. There is nothing to wire and no connection to mains power.
Keep coin and button cell batteries out of reach of children. If swallowed, a coin cell can cause severe internal burns in as little as two hours and can lead to death. Seek immediate medical attention if a battery is swallowed or placed in any part of the body. Keep new and used batteries away from children, and dispose of used batteries promptly.
Serin Link
- Indoor desktop use. The Serin Link belongs on a flat surface indoors, in a dry location. It is not a wall product and is not rated for outdoor or damp locations.
- Power. The Link is powered from a wall outlet through the USB-C charger and cable supplied with it. Keep the outlet accessible so the Link can be unplugged, and unplug it before cleaning.
- No battery. There is no battery inside the Link. It runs only while it is plugged in.
- Do not open the enclosure. There are no user-serviceable parts inside, and the display and its ribbon connection are easily damaged.
- Keep it away from heat and liquids. Do not place the Link on or beside a stove, a radiator, or a heating vent, and keep drinks away from it.
- The stand is 3D-printed plastic. It should not sit on a hot surface, because printed plastic can soften and deform.
Multi-Zone Controller
The Multi-Zone Controller connects to the two-wire transmission connection at the outdoor unit or branch box, or on City Multi systems at an indoor unit, and draws its power from that same pair.
- Switch the whole system off first. Turn the system off at the disconnect before opening the outdoor unit, a branch box, or any panel that carries the transmission wiring. Those enclosures also carry line voltage.
- Involve a qualified technician. These are often commercial or light-commercial systems, and many are covered by a service contract. Check the contract before anyone works on the equipment, and have a qualified technician make the connection.
- Existing controllers stay in place. The Multi-Zone Controller joins the bus alongside them and does not remove or replace anything already on the system.
End of life
Like all electronics, our products should not go in household trash at end of life. Take them to a local e-waste collection point; most US municipalities and many electronics retailers accept small electronics for recycling. Take used batteries to a battery recycling point rather than putting them in the trash.
