Small business. Hands-on care.
About Serin Labs
Serin Labs is a small business focused on making smart control for Mitsubishi mini-splits more accessible.
We bring together hardware, open-source firmware, and clear documentation, with personal attention to product quality and customer support.
How we started
Serin Labs began with a Mitsubishi multi-zone system at home, unexplained cooling issues, and a desire to understand what was happening behind the thermostat. The included MHK1 offered limited control for a smart home setup, which led to experimenting with ESP8266 projects using the system’s CN105 port.
The next step came after installing a Mitsubishi system at a family home. The goal was straightforward: give our parents control from their phones without spending hundreds of dollars per indoor unit on additional thermostats. That led to a hardware package and the development of mitsubishi-cn105-homekit, our free, open-source HomeKit-compatible firmware built on the work of existing community projects.
Along the way, we found plenty of information online, but assembling a complete solution meant piecing together scattered instructions, parts lists, and wiring details. Serin Labs grew out of the decision to make that process easier for others.
What we do
Hardware & testing
We prepare hardware and test cables, with clear installation guides to help customers get their systems connected.
Open-source firmware
We develop free firmware you can install with our browser flasher. Our guides are available whether you buy from us or build your own.
Direct support
We help customers check compatibility before purchasing and handle support directly after installation.
We also continue to develop new products, drawing on the same needs that started the business: practical control, useful diagnostic information, and easier setup.
Our firmware builds on open-source community projects. Meet those projects and find their source and terms on our licenses and credits page.
Quality and care
The person answering your questions also works on the products.
As a small business, we stay closely involved in the work, from developing firmware and preparing cables to helping customers with their setups.
We believe quality includes the whole experience: knowing which hardware you need, having clear installation instructions, and being able to reach someone who understands the system. That attention carries through from product development to the support we provide after an order arrives.
