Every product Serin Labs sells carries a one-year limited hardware warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. This page states those terms in plain language. It sits alongside the store policies, which cover shipping, cancellations, returns, and refunds on every order, and the terms of service, which cover the site, the documentation, the browser flash tool, and the free firmware. What the warranty says
Serin Labs warrants that a product purchased from Serin Labs, on this site or through our Etsy shop, is free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for one year from the date it is delivered to you. This is a limited warranty.
What is covered
- The product and every part that ships in its box, as listed in the table above.
- A failure caused by a defect in materials or workmanship under normal use, installed and operated as the product's instructions describe.
- A unit with no physical damage that official firmware cannot recover. See firmware and updates below.
What is not covered
- Accidental damage and damage caused by the customer, including drops, crushing, liquid, and damage from opening or modifying a product.
- Damage from connecting a product to a port, terminal, or power source other than the one its instructions describe, or from installing it somewhere the safety and installation page rules out.
- Damage or a malfunction caused by custom or incorrect firmware. Installing firmware does not by itself cancel coverage of an unrelated hardware fault.
- Batteries, which are consumables. The wireless room sensor's battery is covered only to arrive in working order.
- A product that was not purchased from Serin Labs.
What we will do
If a covered defect appears within the one-year period, Serin Labs will replace the product or refund it, at our choice. Serin Labs pays shipping in both directions on a covered claim. There is no paid repair service, and replacement parts are not sold separately, so a covered product is always made right by replacement or refund rather than by repair.
How to make a claim
Use the contact form with your order number and a description of the problem, including what you have already tried. For an Etsy order, you can also message the shop on Etsy. We reply within 2 business days and will confirm what to send back before you ship anything. If a controller does not respond, start with the troubleshooting guide first, because a charge-only USB cable is the most common cause.
Firmware and updates
The firmware is free, and updates carry no charge or subscription. If an installation through the Serin Labs browser flash tool with the correct official image fails, or an official signed over-the-air update fails, contact us and we will walk you through recovery over USB. Most software failures are recovered this way. If official firmware cannot bring back a unit that has no physical damage, we treat it as a warranty claim.
Firmware you install yourself is your choice to make. Running firmware other than an official Serin Labs image does not by itself cancel coverage of an unrelated hardware fault, but damage or a malfunction caused by custom or incorrect firmware is not covered.
Your legal rights
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
Any implied warranty, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, is limited to the one-year duration of this written warranty. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.
Serin Labs is not liable for incidental or consequential damages arising from the product or from a breach of this warranty. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
This warranty is governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States.
How this page fits with the store policies and terms
The store policies apply to every order and are the first place to look for shipping, cancellations, returns, and refunds. Their 30-day return window and their commitment on damaged, defective, or incorrect items stand on their own; this warranty adds a year of coverage on top. Where both a return window and this warranty apply, you may use whichever suits you.
The firmware, the documentation, and the browser flash tool are covered by the terms of service and the licenses listed on the licenses and compliance page. They are free and provided as-is under their own licenses, and nothing on this page changes that. Adding a third-party accessory to HVAC equipment may affect the equipment manufacturer's warranty terms.
