Controls depend on the indoor unit, firmware and app. For operating instructions, see [Everyday controls](https://serin-labs.com/controller/everyday-use.html).

## HomeKit-compatible firmware

Scroll sideways to read all columns.

| Control | Firmware capability |
| --- | --- |
| Modes | Off, Heat, Cool, Auto, Dry, and Fan. Additional modes beyond Apple Home's thermostat controls are available in the web interface. |
| Target temperature | Adjustments in 0.5°C increments; independent heat and cool targets in Auto mode. |
| Fan speed | Auto, Quiet, Low, Med, High, and Max. |
| Vertical vane | Auto, five fixed positions, and Swing. |
| Horizontal vane | Five fixed positions, Split, and Swing. |
| Room sensor | One source or an average of selected remote sources, with per-sensor offsets. See · [room temperature sensors](https://serin-labs.com/controller/room-sensors.html#homekit) · . |

Apple Home has no vane controls; use the web interface. Remote access and automations require an Apple Home hub.

## ESPHome standard entities

The standard build provides these Home Assistant entities. IDs follow your chosen name: `living-room` produces `climate.living_room`.

Scroll sideways to read all columns.

| Entity | Domain | Purpose |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Indoor unit | `climate` | Mode, target temperature, fan speed, and current room temperature. |
| Vertical vane | `select` | Up-and-down airflow direction. |
| Horizontal vane | `select` | Left-and-right airflow direction. |
| LED | `light` | The board's RGB light. ESPHome assigns it no controller status function. |
| Button | `binary_sensor` | The controller's physical button. |
| Signal strength | `sensor` | Wi-Fi signal strength in decibels. |
| IP address and SSID | `sensor` | Network address and Wi-Fi network name. |
| ESPHome version | `sensor` | The ESPHome version used to compile the firmware. |
| Pair Serin Link | `button` | Opens the controller's pairing window for a Serin Link. |
| Room Temperature Source | `select` | Selects the built-in sensor or paired Serin Link. |
| Serin Link 1 device | `binary_sensor` · , · `sensor` | Connected, MAC, Last Seen, Firmware, Temperature, and Humidity for the paired Serin Link. |

### Climate and vane options

- **Modes:** Off, Heat, Cool, Auto, Dry, and Fan.
- **Temperature:** 15 to 31°C in 0.5° increments, with room temperature displayed to 0.1°. The indoor unit's limits still apply.
- **Fan speed:** Auto, Quiet, Low, Medium, Middle, and High.
- **Vertical vane:** Auto, five positions, and Swing.
- **Horizontal vane:** five positions, Split, and Swing.

Auto mode uses one target by default. Separate heat/cool setpoints, swing on the climate entity, and Even/Indirect/Direct airflow are generator options. Omit the horizontal vane if the unit has none.

The generator can also add an i-See occupancy binary sensor, supported Night mode/Air purifier/Circulator switches, Bluetooth proxy, and ISU installer settings. See [optional configuration features](https://serin-labs.com/controller/customize-esphome.html#options) for requirements and installation.

## Heat-pump diagnostic readings

See [diagnostic readings](https://serin-labs.com/controller/diagnostics.html) or [collect logs for support](https://serin-labs.com/controller/support-info.html).

## Matter controls in Google Home, Alexa, and SmartThings

The Matter thermostat provides power, Heat/Cool/Auto, target temperature and room temperature. Dry, fan-only, fan speed and vane controls may be absent from your app; use the web interface for those controls and diagnostics.

## Unavailable settings

See [settings the controller does not provide](https://serin-labs.com/controller/settings.html#limits) for static IP, light brightness, web access and update behavior.
